Lino Hellings is an artist and a sociologist. As an individual artist she produces multi media work, mainly for the public space. Important questions are: “ what does the situation ask for ?’ and ‘how can I provoke, invite or trickle people to find a new commitment to the spot where they spend their time through my work’. The process of design is always public (not democratic). Projects start off in a participatory observational way looking for ‘ details with a story’. These details lead to the final junctures for the art work and to the design of the procedure with which the artwork will become manifest. In most cases the procedure is interactive; the people the art is meant for, play an active roll in the coming about of it. The artwork is always designed in connection to the context and the way it will be perceived.
More theory: www.architectureofinteraction.net As a researcher with the freedom of an artist, Lino Hellings explores urban-plan questions. These explorations are always shaped in such a way that it is of value for the professional as well as that it can be given back to the people concerned.
